Marinel Malvar de Jesus is a first generation Filipina American. She was a civil rights lawyer in Washington, DC for 15 years before launching her non-profit organization, The Porter Voice Collective, in 2019 and her adventure travel social enterprise, Equity Global Treks, and media site, Brown Gal Trekker, in 2016. She is a solutions-focused journalist whose work has been published in leading travel and outdoor publications. Her work focuses on decolonizing travel by way of elevating the roles of women, people of color and indigenous communities and in creating equity and inclusion in the travel and outdoor industries.
